Hello there...
Have you ever been in a group setting where you’re supposed to introduce yourself? “Let’s go around the room and each person can share your name, your favorite hobby, and one interesting fact about you.”
I DREAD those situations. Not only are you totally put on the spot, but you have to decide what fact about yourself people might find interesting. I like to take pictures. Am I good at it? No, not really 😅 I recently picked up playing the drums... will people thing that’s a cool hobby? No, probably not. I was born with only one kidney. Will people think that’s interesting? Well... maybe? But maybe not. Man, I wish I was cool!! What am I going to say???
“Hello, my name is Catelyn and... have a great day!” *runs straight through the wall like the Kool Aid man*
That’s a little bit how I feel about starting this blog lol. I have a lot of things I could talk about. But... will people want to read it? It’s mostly about my life, my family, my kids... Will people think it’s interesting? Maybe... maybe not. But one thing I’ve learned in life is that sometimes, you just have to do what is fun and interesting to YOU, and not worry about whether or not you’re good at it or if people will like it or whatever. I love to write. Have I ever had anything published? No, unless you count my high school newsletter where my poem was published that I wrote in my Creative Writing class. But I enjoy it, it helps me get my thoughts out when my brain feels like it might explode. Especially these days when I’m taking care of my very little children every hour of every day. I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I’d be lying if I said I never feel lonely with my thoughts. I used to have a blog and I think I had 10 or so entries, but after Claira was born it kind of went by the wayside, and I miss it!
So if you’re reading this... welcome to my mind 😉 Here I will share special events in the lives of my family members, birthday parties, family vacations, highs and lows of the mundane days, and everything in between. I will try to keep it as real as possible while still being enjoyable to read. It’s something I hope to look back in years from now and love reading, myself. A journal of sorts. And for some reason I’ve decided to share it with the world! What could go wrong! Haha.
So, in case you don’t already know, my name is Catelyn. First and foremost I’m a child of God. I feel like my relationship with Him has grown so much since I became a parent and I’m so thankful for His perfect example of a gentle, patient Father. I have a hard working, loving, handsome husband named Jonathan. We’ve been married for 7 years. We have two beautiful daughters who have brought me more joy than I ever knew was possible. Along with that joy has come challenges, growth, self-reflection, tears, worries, belly laughs, spontaneous dance parties, and princess dresses. Lots of princess dresses. We also have a sweet pit bull named Roxie who eats all the food my girls drop and helps me keep my floors clean, and for that I’m forever grateful for her.
Anyway, that’s us! I’ll try to keep things fun, real, and raw around here. We’re nothing special, but we’re US and that’s good enough for me. The joys of being Jeffers 😊
James 1:2-4 “Count it all joy when you face various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
